Los Angeles Clippers Enter LeBron James Free-Agency Rumors Loyal followers refer to LeBron James as the King, but he could be next in line to hold the throne as L.A.'s biggest basketball star.

The speculation cycle regarding the world's biggest free agent has turned to Los Angeles, where the Clippers are entering the fray. According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, billionaire David Geffen is interested in buying a majority share of the Clippers and wooing LeBron. The report, however, says that current owner Donald Sterling has not shown any interest in selling the team, which may prove the idea to be more fairy tale than reality. Yet Geffen, according to the story, told Sterling that "he can deliver LeBron as long as he's calling the shots."

But it's still fun to think about, and the more you do, the more it makes sense. First, there's the obvious. LeBron could jump into the nation's second-largest media market and attain all the money and fame he could in New York, and he could do so without having to join the Knicks. Sure, the Clippers aren't any better, but they at least have some pieces in place in Blake Griffin, Baron Davis and Chris Kaman. LeBron, just 25 years old, could compete with Kobe Bryant (who turns 32 in August) for the city's attention, this time not in puppet form.

The second — and perhaps larger — draw for LeBron would be Geffen. The 67-year-old is worth $4.5 billion, according to Forbes Magazine, so spending money likely wouldn't be a problem for Geffen. Then there's the secondary benefits of Mr. James having Geffen as an owner — the entertainment factor.

Geffen is a co-founder of Dreamworks Studios. LeBron James is never famous enough to satisfy LeBron James. Hello, movie roles.

Will LeBron ultimately head to L.A.? At this point, nobody really knows anything, but a move to the Clippers makes just as much sense as any other.
